Living in the Rossland–Trail Area

The Rossland–Trail area offers an incredible lifestyle that blends small-town charm with world-class outdoor adventure. Nestled in the stunning West Kootenay region of British Columbia, our communities enjoy easy access to alpine skiing, mountain biking, hiking, paddle sports, and more—right from your doorstep.

Rossland is home to Red Mountain Resort, one of North America’s top ski destinations, known for its expansive terrain, deep powder, and laid-back vibe. In the warmer months, Red’s lift-accessed mountain bike park draws riders from across the country. Whether you’re carving fresh tracks or exploring the alpine on two wheels, Red offers unparalleled outdoor experiences just minutes from home.

Trail, where our clinic is located, is a vibrant and growing city with excellent schools, affordable housing, and a strong community spirit. Combined with a regional hospital nearby and all the amenities you need, it’s a perfect place to put down roots.

What’s a Typical Day Like?

At Columbia Primary Care Clinic, a typical day starts around 8:30 am with a check-in alongside our collaborative and upbeat clinical team. On Mondays, we host a morning huddle to connect, share updates, and set the tone for the week ahead.

Patient care begins at 9:00 am with a mix of in-person and virtual appointments, continuing until noon. After a break to recharge—whether that means a walk, a shared lunch, or a quiet moment—we resume care from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Most team members wrap up documentation and follow-ups by 4:30 or 5:00 pm, leaving the clinic with a sense of purpose and accomplishment.

Flexibility is part of our culture. Some practitioners choose to split their time between clinic and home, or integrate work at nearby long-term care facilities, depending on personal and professional preferences.

What Makes Columbia Primary Care Clinic Unique?

Columbia Primary Care Clinic is a well-established, centrally located practice in Trail, BC. We are proud members of the Kootenay Boundary Primary Care Network (PCN), allowing us to provide truly integrated care through strong interdisciplinary partnerships.

Within our clinic, we are co-located with two dedicated Registered Nurses and collaborate closely with an extended team that includes a physiotherapist, social worker, respiratory therapist, dietitian, occupational therapist, and Indigenous Patient Navigator. This setup enhances both patient care and professional satisfaction.

We also offer:

  • No on-call responsibilities, allowing for predictable schedules and better balance.
  • Collaborative and collegial environment, free from unnecessary administrative politics.
  • Strong support team, including experienced MOAs and clinic management.
  • MedAccess EMR, providing seamless digital workflows.
  • Inclusive team culture, welcoming diverse practitioners from across the globe.
  • Optional involvement in long-term care, with no requirement for ER or inpatient shifts (but ER and inpatient work are available, if you are interested in this)
  • Regular involvement in medical education, hosting medical students and residents in a supportive, mentorship-rich setting.
  • We focus on what matters—patient care, team collaboration, and clinical excellence—without getting caught up in unnecessary politics or administrative drama. We maintain a grounded, respectful environment where our energy goes toward our patients and supporting one another.

Informal collaboration is woven into our day—whether it’s a curbside consult, a hallway chat, or shared laughs during lunch, our team-oriented approach makes the workday more fulfilling and enjoyable.
